As I mentioned earlier, the off-season is a wonderful time to get fat and lazy. However, that time is also a wonderful time to try something new that you haven’t tried before outside the realm of Triathlon.
I’m a former P90X graduate, but it has been a few years since I’ve used the p90x program for more than an occasional cross-training day. P90X is approximately an hour long, as are its variants P90X2. I’ve tried FocusT25, and Insanity, and both those workouts are shorter and fantastic in their own right. But when I was looking for a cross-training supplement to triathlon training, and also something to prepare me for a Spartan Beast, I turned to P90X3.
P90x3 is the latest set of training videos from Tony Horton and the team from Beachbody. At 30 minutes, the videos are the perfect addition to baseline triathlon training and, more importantly, with a few videos based on a strength regimen, something to help get ready for a Spartan Beast.
But the question is: Is 1 round of p9ox3 enough to prepare someone who got fat and lazy for a Spartan Beast?
I’ve decided I’m going to find out. On January 15, 2015, I”ll be in the Socal Beast.
I’ll be doing a bit more than just p90x3: I’ll be continuing my training for next year’s triathlons and ultramarathons. But it’ll be P90x3 that will be the real evaluation.
Will it be enough?
Stay tuned to find out.
